The 40th Field Artillery Regiment was first constituted on 5 July 1918 and went on to serve with distinction across generations of American military history. Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, deployed in support of the 199th Infantry Brigade during the Vietnam War — one of the Army's storied light infantry units that saw sustained combat operations throughout Southeast Asia.
