The 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment — known as the "Red Devils" and "Fury from the Sky" — earned its name through blood, steel, and sky. First formed in October 1942, the 508th PIR dropped into the heart of Nazi-occupied Europe and never looked back. Today, two active battalions carry that lineage forward within the 82nd Airborne Division.
