The Heritage
Constituted on 12 November 1942 and activated at Camp Mackall, North Carolina, the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment was assigned to the legendary 11th Airborne Division. Trained as both glider and parachute troops, these men staged from Camp Stoneman, California, departing the San Francisco Port of Embarkation on 6 May 1944 — bound for the Pacific Theater and a place in history.
