II Field Force, Vietnam — The Largest Corps Command in Army History
Activated on 15 March 1966, II Field Force became the most powerful corps-level command the U.S. Army deployed in Vietnam — and one of the largest in its entire history. Assigned the lineage of the XXII Corps from the European Theater of World War II, II Field Force operated under MACV with its headquarters at Long Binh, commanding the fight across III Corps Tactical Zone.
