The Regiment's Story
Activated in 1966 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the 1st Battalion, 83rd Artillery deployed to Vietnam in October of that year. From Bear Cat to Nui Dat to Xuân Lộc, the regiment moved where the mission demanded — and delivered. Flagrante Bello — in the heat of war — was more than a motto. It was a way of life.
