The 6th Psychological Operations Battalion, also known as the 6th PSYOP Battalion, was constituted on 20 October 1965 and activated on 1 November 1965 in Vietnam. It was tasked with the dissemination of propaganda by radio broadcast and prepared leaflets. The battalion was reorganized and redesignated on 16 March 1990 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 6th Psychological Operations Battalion, and later on 16 November 1995 as Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Company, 6th Psychological Operations Battalion. The battalion participated in 12 campaigns of the Vietnam War and was involved in various operations in Southwest Asia and the War on Terrorism. It was awarded multiple honors, including the Vietnam Southwest Asia War on Terrorism Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor Medal. The battalion's coat of arms was authorized on 20 June 1997, and its motto is "Veritas Vos Liberabit," meaning "The truth will set you free."
