HISTORY

British Army: 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division
- Formation and Service: Formed in 1908, it served in both World War I and World War II. Its headquarters were in York.
- WWI: Fought on the Western Front in France and Flanders.
- WWII: Served in the Norwegian Campaign and northwestern Europe. It was also an armored division during this period.
- Disbandment: Disbanded in 1946, reformed in 1947, and finally disbanded again in 1967.
