The Golden Unicorns — A Brief History
Activated August 1943 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 13th Airborne Division trained thousands of paratroopers for airborne assault operations — parachute and glider insertions behind enemy lines. Though the war ended before the division deployed to combat, the "Golden Unicorns" embodied the Army's commitment to elite airborne warfare and deactivated with honor in February 1946.
