31st Engineer Battalion. We Demonstrate. Fort Leonard Wood.

“We Demonstrate” — the motto that defines the engineer soldier’s approach to every task. Not just trained, not just ready, but demonstrating the standard every time. Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri — the home of the U.S. Army Engineer School and the Army’s Maneuver Support Center of Excellence — is where that standard is set, taught, and upheld. For the 31st Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood represents the heart of the engineer branch: the installation where combat engineers are made and where the “We Demonstrate” ethos is lived every day.

This mug carries the 31st Engineer Battalion identity alongside the “We Demonstrate” motto and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri — a tribute to the engineers who trained, served, and demonstrated the standard at the Army’s premier engineering installation.

About the Unit & Installation

The 31st Engineer Battalion was originally constituted as the 31st Engineer Company on 1 July 1940 and activated at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. It was reorganized and redesignated as the 31st Engineer Combat Battalion on 15 December 1941. Fort Leonard Wood, located in the Missouri Ozarks, is home to the U.S. Army Engineer School, the Military Police School, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear School — making it the Army’s Maneuver Support Center of Excellence. The “We Demonstrate” motto reflects the engineer branch’s commitment to leading by example: showing the standard, not just describing it.
