Operation Just Cause (December 1989 – January 1990) was the U.S. military invasion of Panama ordered by President George H. W. Bush to depose General Manuel Noriega — indicted on federal racketeering and drug trafficking charges. The 3rd Ranger Battalion led the airfield assault at H-Hour, executing one of the most precise combat jumps in Ranger history. Noriega surrendered on January 3, 1990. The Panama Defense Forces were dissolved, and President-elect Guillermo Endara was sworn into office. The Rangers who served earned their place in the long scroll of American military history.
