The 333rd Field Artillery Battalion
Mar 1, 2021 — On August 5,1942, the 333rd Field Artillery Regiment was organized as a segregated colored unit at Camp Gruber in Muskogee, Oklahoma. ... After one year of training, the men of the 333rd, were given charge of operating M1 155mm howitzers. ... The Allied forces had begun to push their way across France and Belgium, to the Siegfried line of the German Border. ... On 16th December, German troops, tanks and artillery descended on the Ardennes. ... The Allies forces had no air support due to the extreme weather conditions, which meant no supplies and no ammunition. ... Schoenberg but soon showed their inexperience.
The 333rd Field Artillery Battalion's history can be traced to the 333rd Field Artillery Regiment, which is part of the US Army's Field Artillery Branch. The 333rd Field Artillery Regiment has also served in World War I, Southwest Asia, and the 1991 Gulf War. 
The documentary Serving for Justice: The Story of the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion tells the story of the unit's struggles in battle and how they proved their citizenship.
