America's First Special Forces Group
The 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) (10th SFG (A), or 10th Group) is an active duty United States Army Special Forces (SF) Group. The 10th Group is designed to deploy and execute nine doctrinal missions: unconventional warfare, foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-insurgency, special reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, information operations, counterproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and security force assistance.
The 10th Group is responsible for operations within the EUCOM area of responsibility, as part of Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR). The 10th Special Forces Group was the first Special Forces group formed in the modern era, activated on June 19, 1952 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina under the command of Colonel Aaron Bank, a legendary OSS veteran who is considered the father of Army Special Forces.
Europe and Beyond - Global Operations
The 10th Special Forces Group maintains a forward-deployed presence in Europe, with elements stationed in Germany and regularly operating throughout the European theater. Green Berets of the 10th Group train and advise partner nation forces, conduct special reconnaissance, execute direct action missions, and maintain readiness to respond to crises throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
10th Group soldiers are regional experts who master European languages, understand local cultures and politics, and build relationships with partner forces. They conduct joint combined exchange training (JCET) with allied militaries, participate in major exercises, and stand ready to execute the full spectrum of special operations missions in support of EUCOM and SOCEUR.
Throughout its history, the 10th Special Forces Group has deployed to conflicts worldwide, from Vietnam to the Balkans, from Iraq to Afghanistan. 10th Group Green Berets have earned numerous decorations for valor and continue to serve at the tip of the spear, maintaining the standards of excellence established by Colonel Bank and the original cadre.
Whether you serve or served with the 10th Special Forces Group, earned your Green Beret, or appreciate the legacy of America's first Special Forces group, this t-shirt represents excellence, heritage, and the proud tradition of the 10th SFG.
