  • The 307th Engineer Battalion was created on August 5, 1917, at Fort Gordon, Georgia, as part of the 82nd Infantry Division. During World War I, the battalion participated in significant campaigns, including the Meuse-Argonne, St. Mihiel, and Lorraine offensives. It earned the nickname "I Maintain the Right" for its role in protecting the right flank of the division during these battles. The battalion was demobilized on May 17, 1919, at Camp Dix, New Jersey.
