A Legacy of Pacific Air Power

The 64th Bomb Squadron was one of four squadrons in the 43rd Bomb Group (Heavy), which flew B-24 Liberator heavy bombers as part of the 5th Air Force in the Pacific Theater. The 43rd Bomb Group, known as "Ken's Men" after their commander Colonel Kenneth McCullar, was one of the most decorated bomb groups in the Pacific, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations for extraordinary heroism in action.

Operating from bases in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines, the 43rd Bomb Group participated in some of the most critical air campaigns of the Pacific War. The group flew missions against Japanese shipping, airfields, supply depots, and strategic targets throughout the Southwest Pacific. These missions were extremely dangerous, with bomber crews facing intense anti-aircraft fire, enemy fighters, tropical weather, and the constant threat of mechanical failure over vast expanses of ocean and jungle.

The 43rd Bomb Group's most famous action was the Battle of the Bismarck Sea in March 1943, where they helped destroy a Japanese convoy attempting to reinforce New Guinea, sinking multiple ships and demonstrating the devastating effectiveness of coordinated air power. The courage and sacrifice of the airmen who flew with the 64th Bomb Squadron and the 43rd Bomb Group helped turn the tide in the Pacific and bring about the defeat of Imperial Japan.

Whether you had a family member who served with the 64th Bomb Squadron, want to honor the 43rd Bomb Group's service, or appreciate the courage of WWII Pacific bomber crews, this mug represents bravery, sacrifice, and the strategic air power that helped win the war in the Pacific.

Ideal for: WWII veterans' families, aviation history enthusiasts, 5th Air Force alumni, military families, office use, and daily enjoyment.

Ken's Men. Pacific air power. Enjoy your coffee with pride.
