The 327th Infantry Regiment, nicknamed the "Bastogne Bulldogs", is a unit of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). It has a rich history, including service in World War I, World War II (where it was a glider regiment), the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and more recently, Iraq and Afghanistan. The Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), or unit crest, features a palmetto tree (representing South Carolina, where the regiment was organized) and a red bend with three fleur-de-lis (representing Lorraine and the unit's WWI campaigns). The unit motto is "Honor and Country".
