A U.S. Army combat veteran from the 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment served in Vietnam, with the unit having been part of the Americal Division and later the 196th Infantry Brigade. The battalion served from 1967 to 1972, experiencing numerous campaigns and numerous sacrifices, with the unit earning several honors, including the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
