The Unit Story
In 1957, the 2-9 FA served within the Pentomic force structure alongside the 2nd Battalion, 7th FA. While the 2-7 FA provided direct support to the division's battle groups, the 2-9 FA carried the division's nuclear capability — a distinction that defined its role in Cold War-era doctrine. The unit was inactivated on June 14, 1958, leaving behind a legacy of precision and purpose.
