57th Assault Helicopter Company – Vietnam Service

From the skies over Kontum to the siege of Dak To, the 57th Assault Helicopter Company flew into the fight every time the mission demanded it. They carried Special Forces soldiers into the jungle, resupplied infantry in contact, and delivered aerial fire support across the rugged highlands of II Corps, Vietnam. This long sleeve tee is a daily tribute to every pilot, crew chief, and door gunner who flew those missions.

Unit History

The 57th Assault Helicopter Company (AHC) was reorganized from an Airmobile Fixed Wing Company to an Assault Helicopter Company and deployed to Vietnam in October 1967. By year’s end, the unit was operating from Kontum in Northwest II Corps — a base the troops nicknamed “Rocket City” for good reason. The 57th’s primary mission was to provide tactical air mobility for combat troops, supplies, and equipment, and to deliver aerial fire support throughout the II Corps area. Units supported included the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), the 4th Infantry Division, 1st Field Forces, and various MACV and ARVN units. During the Siege of Dak To in November 1967, the 57th proved itself combat ready and capable of handling any mission assigned.
