The Emblem Speaks for Itself.

In 1943, the 781st Bombardment Squadron took to the skies over the Mediterranean Theater of Operations, flying the Consolidated B-24 Liberator on some of the most dangerous bombing missions of World War II. Operating as part of the 465th Bombardment Group, the squadron earned two Distinguished Unit Citations for its courage and effectiveness under fire — a record that speaks to the caliber of the men who flew those missions.

This insignia-only mug lets the squadron emblem carry the story. No text, no label — just the graphic, clean and unmistakable to those who know the history. A quiet tribute to the Greatest Generation’s airmen.

About the Unit

The 781st Bombardment Squadron was activated in 1943 and served in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations as a B-24 Liberator unit, earning two Distinguished Unit Citations for its combat actions. After V-E Day, the squadron served in Air Transport Command, ferrying personnel from the combat theater back to the United States. The squadron was later reactivated as the 781st Troop Carrier Squadron in 1953, providing theater airlift in France before inactivating in 1958, and returned to its bombardment designation in 1963 before final inactivation in 1968.
