Unit History
The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) of the 6th Airborne Division, known as one of the legendary “Phantom Divisions” of World War II, was part of the U.S. Army’s deception operations to mislead enemy forces about Allied strength and movements. Though never an active combat division, the 6th Airborne “Phantom” symbolized strategic ingenuity and psychological warfare excellence during the war.
