Unit History
The 1st Platoon of an Infantry unit is typically a smaller, frontline combat team that operates as part of a larger company within a battalion. Comprised of about 30-40 soldiers, it is led by a platoon leader (usually a second lieutenant) and a platoon sergeant (typically a staff sergeant or sergeant first class). The platoon is divided into squads and fire teams, providing flexibility and adaptability in combat scenarios. These infantry platoons play a vital role in ground operations, often engaging directly with the enemy, securing terrain, and conducting patrols and reconnaissance missions.
