The Historic Specialist 5 Rank
Specialist 5 (SPC5) was a United States Army enlisted rank at paygrade E-5, active from 1955 to 1985. Created as part of the Specialist rank series (E-4 through E-7), SPC5 recognized soldiers with advanced technical expertise — separate from the NCO leadership track. Specialists focused on skill; Sergeants led soldiers. Both held E-5 pay. Only one wore this insignia.

| Specialist 5 | Sergeant | |

Vietnam War Era Service
