The History
COMNAVAIRLANT — also known as AIRLANT and CNAL — serves as the Type Commander (TYCOM) for U.S. Naval aviation units operating in the Atlantic under United States Fleet Forces Command. Type Commanders hold administrative and, in select cases, operational control over aircraft and fleet assets assigned to the Atlantic Fleet.
