The 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, deployed to Vietnam in February 1968 in response to the Tet Offensive. The brigade, including the 1st and 2nd Battalions of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and the 1st Battalion of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, saw intense combat in I Corps and later in III Corps. The brigade's service in Vietnam spanned from 1968 to late 1969.
