988th Military Police Company
The 988th Military Police Company was first activated at Fort Benning in August 1966. The unit deployed to Panama for Operation Just Cause in December 1989 and has deployed to Iraq three times in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit returned from its most recent deployment to Iraq where its soldiers mentored and trained Iraqi police in August. The 988th has also deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where it was responsible for guarding prisoners, and to the Pentagon in support of Operation Home Front Security.
