US Army WAC refers to the Women's Army Corps. Established in 1942, the WAC was a branch of the United States Army that allowed women to serve in non-combat roles during World War II and beyond. The WAC provided opportunities for women to take on various military duties such as clerks, telephone operators, and medical personnel, among others. The corps was disbanded in 1978 when women were integrated into regular Army units, but the legacy of the WAC is an important part of military history, representing the pioneering roles of women in the U.S. Army.
