The 28th Infantry Division, nicknamed the "Iron Division", has a long and distinguished history, particularly known for its service in World War II and the Korean War. In WWII, it played a crucial role in the Battle of Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge, earning the nickname "Bloody Bucket" for its heavy casualties. During the Korean War, the division was mobilized and deployed to Europe as part of NATO.
