The 34th Infantry Division's ("Red Bull") history began in 1917 as a National Guard formation from the Midwest. The division's lineage is notable for its service in World War I, deploying to Europe, and particularly for its extensive, record-breaking combat time in the Italian Campaign during World War II, earning the motto "Attack, Attack, Attack". The division's Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) is a stylized red bovine skull on a blue background, symbolizing vitality and courage. After WWII, the division was reorganized and continued its legacy through later deployments and modern multi-domain warfare exercises.
