The 33rd Infantry Division ("Prairie Division") was a U.S. Army National Guard unit from 1917 to 1968, primarily composed of soldiers from Illinois. It served with distinction in both World War I, fighting on the Western Front, and World War II in the Pacific theater. After its inactivation, its lineage is carried on by the 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
