During Desert Storm (1990-1991), the 3rd Armored Division deployed to Saudi Arabia, where A Battery, 5th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery (5-3 ADA) was attached to the Ready First Combat Team and participated in combat actions from January to May 1991, earning a Valorous Unit Award. The 3rd Armored Division was an experienced unit that, after extensive service in World War II and the Cold War, saw its final deployments in the Persian Gulf War and was later inactivated.
