The 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment was reactivated in November 1985 as part of the newly reactivated 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY, following a history of service with the 4th Infantry Division and a prior deactivation in 1984. Under the 10th Mountain Division, the battalion deployed forHurricane Andrew relief in 1992 and then conducted combat operations in Somalia in 1993. In 1994, it deployed to Haiti for Operation Uphold Democracy.
