The 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, nicknamed "First Strike", is a unit within the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). It has a distinguished history, particularly in World War II, where it was part of the 101st Airborne Division and participated in the Normandy landings (D-Day). The battalion has also served in various other conflicts and peacekeeping missions, including deployments to Egypt, the Sinai Peninsula, and Iraq.
