The 12th Cavalry is a cavalry regiment of the United States Army.
From 1901 until 1911, the regiment served posts in Texas, Georgia, and the Philippines.
During the Cold War 3rd Squadron 12th Cavalry was assigned to the 3rd Armored Division in Germany
as the divisional cavalry squadron. The 4th Squadron 12th Cavalry was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division
(Mechanized) at Fort Carson, CO, in the 1960s and at Fort Polk, LA. A Troop of the 4th Squadron served in Vietnam with
the 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971.
