Cacti. 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry. Vietnam Combat Infantry Veteran.
This premium 15oz black ceramic mug honors the Vietnam Combat Infantry Veterans of the 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment "Cacti" who deployed under the 25th Infantry Division SSI and fought across some of the most demanding terrain and combat environments of the entire war — from the Central Highlands to the coastal regions of I and II Corps.
Pleiku. The Central Highlands. I Corps and II Corps. 1966 – 1972.
In August 1965, elements of the 35th Infantry began their rotation into Vietnam, arriving in South Vietnam and deploying to the Central Highlands at Pleiku as part of the 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division. The 1st and 2nd Battalions were heavily engaged from January 1966 until 1972 throughout the I Corps and II Corps areas of operations. In August 1967, operational control of the 35th Infantry's battalions transferred from the 25th Infantry Division to the 4th Infantry Division — but the soldiers who deployed under the Tropic Lightning SSI carried that identity into every fight.
