About the Civil Air Patrol
The Civil Air Patrol is a congressionally chartered, federally supported nonprofit corporation established as the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force under Title 10 of the United States Code. With an aviation-minded membership drawn from all backgrounds, CAP performs three primary missions: emergency services (including search and rescue), aerospace education, and the cadet program — developing the next generation of aviation and aerospace leaders. CAP members are volunteers who give their time, skills, and aircraft in service to their communities and the nation.
The wings may be civilian. The commitment is anything but.
