Nestled in the sandhills of North Carolina, Camp MacKall stands as one of the most storied training grounds in U.S. Army history. Established during World War II, it served as the primary training site for the Army's elite airborne and special operations forces — the men who would jump into darkness over Normandy, Sicily, and the Pacific. Today, it remains an active installation and the proving ground for Special Forces candidates in the grueling Robin Sage exercise.

Unit History
Camp MacKall (originally Camp Mackall) is an active U.S. Army training facility located in Richmond and Scotland Counties, North Carolina — south of Southern Pines. Established in 1943 and named after Private John Thomas MacKall, the first American paratrooper killed in combat in North Africa, the installation trained thousands of airborne soldiers during WWII. It remains the home of Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) and the final phase of the Q-Course.
