The 3rd Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment's Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) is a six-bastioned fort (representing Fort Texas, established in 1846) with the Lone Star of Texas in the center. The fort is green, symbolizing the color used in the Mexican army, and it is charged with the Lone Star of Texas. This insignia was originally approved for the 36th Infantry Regiment in 1937 and has been redesignated several times since.
