The "Spartans" of the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, have a storied history that includes World War II and modern deployments. The unit is part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, and its motto is "Deeds Not Words!". While the unit has a long history as part of different formations, the current 1st Battalion was reactivated in 2008 and is stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas.
