The Triple Nickles. America's First Black Paratroopers.
The 555th Parachute Infantry Battalion — known as the "Triple Nickles" — made history as the first all-Black paratrooper unit in the United States Army. During Operation Firefly in 1945, they were deployed to the Pacific Northwest to combat Japanese balloon bomb fires, jumping into rugged terrain to protect American soil. Their courage, discipline, and sacrifice broke barriers that defined a generation.
