The Consolidated B-24 Liberator was one of the most important American heavy bombers of World War II. The USAAF took delivery of its first B-24As in June 1941, with the B-24D becoming the first production model delivered in quantity in July 1942. By September 1944, the USAAF had 6,043 B-24 Liberators operating worldwide—more than any other American bomber.
The B-24 was assigned to every combat Air Force and served in every theater of World War II.
