HISTORY

The 8th Battalion, 4th Artillery, served in Vietnam under the I Field Force from approximately July 1967, initially as a 175mm gun battalion, and provided fire support to various units, including the III Marine Amphibious Force. The battalion operated with multiple batteries across different locations in the I and II Corps zones, often deployed to multiple separate firing positions to support combat operations, and also developed training programs for ARVN artillery.
