Unit Heritage
The 65th Air Defense Artillery traces its lineage to World War I, where it served as a tractor-drawn unit equipped with British BL 9.2-inch Howitzers. Reactivated in Panama in 1924, it transitioned to anti-aircraft duty, fielding the 3-inch Gun M1918. By Vietnam, Battery G carried that legacy forward — this time with the .50 caliber machinegun.
