The First Team's Legacy
Activated in 1921, the 1st Cavalry Division has served in every major American conflict — from the Pacific Theater of WWII to Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry earned its place in history at the Battle of Ia Drang Valley in 1965 — one of the first major engagements of the Vietnam War and a defining moment for airmobile warfare.
