The Battle and the March

In early 1942, approximately 75,000 American and Filipino troops on the Bataan Peninsula fought valiantly against overwhelming Japanese forces. After their surrender on April 9, 1942, these defenders were forced to march over 65 miles in what became known as the Bataan Death March—a journey of unimaginable suffering where thousands perished from brutality, starvation, and disease. Those who survived faced years of harsh imprisonment in Japanese POW camps.

The American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor Memorial Society

The ADBC Memorial Society is dedicated to promoting education about the POW experience in the Pacific during WWII and supporting programs of reconciliation. Their mission includes:
