Forged from scratch to prosecute the War on Terrorism on 16 September 2004, the Battalion deployed to combat four times over a period of less than ten years—and each time earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation for their exemplary service supporting the troops on the front lines of battle.
On 25 April 2014, the Battalion cased its colors during a formal inactivation ceremony for the 4th Brigade Combat Team held at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
