From 1967 until Jan 1970 LZ Baldy was the home for U.S. Army Company C, 23rd Medical Battalion Americal Division Republic of South Vietnam. This Medical company worked to save the lives of all U.S. soldiers, enemy soldiers and civilians. The company also supported Graves Registration who took care of the deceased. C Co 23 Med Bn supported F Troop, 17th Cavalry with medics as needed for medical care while in the field.C Co 23 Med Bn moved to Hawk Hill in Dec 1969 and Jan 1970. Hawk Hill was located about half way between LZ Baldy and Chu Lai just off of highway one. This Base and C Co 23 Med Bn continued to care for the sick and wounded.
